CHINA
CHINA: Markets continue to coil, with comments from Chinese policymakers doing
the rounds via BBG.
- On the fiscal side, there has been a focus on tax measures, particularly on a
targeted basis i.e. that would support SMEs. Elsewhere, there was talk on
expanding the use of special bonds for key projects.
- On the monetary side, we heard from PBoC Deputy Gov. Chen. He noted that both
fiscal & monetary policy required to fight the Coronavirus outbreak. Chen also
noted that the Bank will keep liquidity reasonably ample & sufficient, and will
guide borrowing costs lower. This is similar to commentary from other
policymakers.
- Still on the lookout for the daily Hubei & national Coronavirus case counts.
