Markets Tight Ahead Of Event Risk

A muted start to Asia-Pac trade for core markets ahead of some event risk. The Chinese official PMI readings, in addition to the Caixin manufacturing PMI reading headline the regional economic docket in Asia-Pac hours, but more focus is set to fall on the first Trump-Biden debate. The probable lines of attack have been drawn out in recent weeks, and there are questions surrounding the potential for debate performance to impact the ultimate outcome of the November vote. Still, if the margins for success in the voting process are very tight there could be some follow through from the debates come voting day, even if performance isn't necessarily translated into the opinion polls.
