BOJ: Meeting Announcement Times So Far In 2024

The BoJ meeting is the main event risk for the remainder of today's Asia Pac session. There is no set time for the release of the meeting outcome. The table below presents the announcement times for this year's meeting outcome for local Japan time, British and Australian times as well. 

  • Note the latest time was the July 31 decision, which included a surprise rate hike. Generally, the longer the decision takes to be released the more the market will speculate a potential policy shift is being debated.
  • Note the Dec decision last year was released at 11:49am local time.
  • Current local time is just on 10am. We are usually on BoJ watch when bond futures close, which is a little after 11am local time.
  • Note after the BoJ meeting outcome is released, there will also be a press conference from BoJ Governor Ueda, which usually kicks off around 3:30pm local time.
