Mexican Crude Exports Hit 4.5 Year High: Kpler

OIL

Refinery fires lift Mexican crude exports to a 4.5-year high according to Kpler.

  • Mexican crude exports reached 1.29 Mbd in June, marking the highest monthly pace since February 2019. This is specifically driven by loadings from Salina Cruz, which have risen to 222 kbd in June, up from around 30 kbd m/m.
  • The US remains the primary destination for Mexican crude, accounting for about two-thirds of the flows, followed by Spain (15%), India (6%) and South Korea (5%).
  • China has stepped up its purchases of Mexican crude, bargain-hunting ahead of the end of seasonal refinery maintenance.
