MEXICO: Press Briefing to Focus on Tariff Report, Q3 Inflation Report

  • At the top of the hour, Mexico will report its trade balance for October, expected to show a wider deficit of 659.2m, compared to last month. Following the data, the focus will turn to President Sheinbaum’s daily press briefing, where she will be joined by Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard and business adviser Altagracia Gomez to present a report on the impact of proposed US tariffs.
  • At 1830GMT/1330ET, Banxico will release the Q3 inflation report, which will include updated forecasts for growth and headline/core inflation over the relevant horizon for monetary policy. Goldman Sachs noted that in order to calibrate the monetary policy path, they will pay particular attention to the characterization of the balance of risks to inflation and growth. GS will also pay particular attention to the revised forecast for the output gap and labour market slack estimates.
  • Also on the docket today are the following bond sales (Mexico City times):
    • 6:05am: Mexico to sell MXN1.7b 2029 floating IPAB bonds
    • 12:00pm: Mexico to sell MXN1.5b 2031 floating IPAB bonds
