MNI Australia MI Inflation Expectations Rise In August

     SYDNEY (MNI) - Inflation expectations rose in August both on a trimmed and
weighted mean basis but remain within the ranges of the past year.
     Data published by the Melbourne Institute Thursday showed inflation
expectations on a trimmed mean basis rose to 4.0% from 3.9% in July, but was
below 4.2% seen in the June survey. 
     On a weighted mean basis, inflation expectations rose to 2.5%, the level it
touched in June for the first time in 10 months.
     From the Melbourne Institute Consumer Inflationary Expectations survey for
August published Thursday.
