MNI: BOC Looking At SVB And Inflation Drop In Next Forecast

(MNI) OTTAWA

The Bank of Canada's new economic forecast next month used to inform its next interest-rate meeting will look at potential spillovers from the collapse of SVB and a recent slide in consumer prices, Deputy Toni Gravelle said Wednesday.

"In the past month alone we’ve seen important developments—headline inflation has dropped, and the risk appetite in global markets has pulled back, partly reflecting the increased stress in global banking," he said in a speech.
