MNI BRIEF: Agricultural Price Index Lowest Since June 2022

China's daily prices for agricultural products hit new lows Wednesday, with the Agricultural Wholesale Price 200 Index falling to 115.50 points, the lowest point since June 2022, according to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

The Agricultural Wholesale Price 200 Index is generated based on the price data of various agricultural products, including pork and eggs, from 200 typical agricultural wholesale markets across the country. The index has fallen from highs of 137.0 in January this year, according to Choice data.

China's Consumer Price Index was flat in September with food costs down by 3.2% further declining from August's 1.7% fall. (See: MNI BRIEF: China CPI Flat In September, Lower Than Expected - Bonds & Currency News | Market News). The October CPI data will be published on Nov 9.
