MNI BRIEF: Bank Negara’s Reserves at USD108.6 Bln End-March

LONDON (MNI)

Malaysia's international reserves stood at USD108.6 billion as of March 31, down from USD109.2 billion in mid-March, Bank Negara Malaysia said Wednesday, adding that the reserves level has taken into account the quarterly foreign exchange revaluation changes.

The central bank said the main components of the international reserves were foreign currency holdings at USD100.9 billion, up from the previous USD99.6 billion. The reserves position is sufficient to finance 8.8 months of retained imports and is 1.2 times the total short-term external debt, the BNM said.
