MNI BRIEF: Biden Aiming to Announce Fed Picks Before Holidays

(MNI) WASHINGTON

President Joe Biden plans to put forward more nominees for open positions on the Federal Reserve Board this month before the holidays, the White House said on Monday.

"That is certainly something we are looking to get done soon and hopefully before the President and everyone leaves for time with their families for the holidays," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said.

After nominating Chair Jerome Powell for another four-year term and Lael Brainard for vice chair, the Biden administration has three other vacancies remaining at the Fed's seven-member Board of Governors. The White House said in late November that they expected the nominations would come in early December.
