Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem said Tuesday inflation data for March suggests that underlying inflationary pressures were continuing to ease.
"Just this morning, Statistics Canada published the March CPI. As expected, close to 3%," he said at a Wilson Center event in Washington. "Importantly, measures of core inflation did tick down again and that does suggest underlying inflationary pressures are continuing to ease. We continue to be moving in the right direction."
