MNI BRIEF: BOE Tenreyro: Vaccine Econ Impact Likely Delayed

(MNI) LONDON
LONDON (MNI)

Coming vaccines will aid policymakers bridge through to the other side of the Covid-19 emergency and offer support to a UK economy that some indicators show was already slowing before the latest national lockdown, Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee member Silvana Tenreyro said Monday

The vaccine news provides "more certainty this is not a bridge to nowhere," she told an online event hosted by the Resolution Foundation. While the vaccines news reduce uncertainty, because of the current health risks, most of the impact on activity will not be immediate but will only materialize once consumers have actually been vaccinated, she said.
