Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Masayoshi Amamiya said on Tuesday that there is no sign rising inflation in the U.S. and Europe will reverse and there is gap between Japan and those countries on prices.

“Actual price developments to date seem to suggest that inflation in the U.S. and Europe has become more persistent,” Amamiya said at the Workshop on “issues surrounding Price Developments during the Covid-19 Pandemic.” Amamiya said that Japan’s CPI from April may be at around 2%. But there is a clear gap between inflation in Japan and the U.S. and Europe.
