Bank of Japan deputy governor nominee Ryozo Himino said on Friday that he doesn’t see the need to change a joint statement between the BOJ and the government made in 2013.

Himino, former chief of the Financial Services Agency, told lawmakers that it is important for the BOJ to maintain easy policy to achieve the price stability target in a sustainable and stable manner.

He said that favorable effects of easy policy are exceeding those of negative effects, but the BOJ will need to carefully examine favorable and negative impacts.
