MNI BRIEF: BOJ February Real Export Index Falls 4.0% M/M

(MNI) TOKYO

The Bank of Japan's real export index, calculated using Ministry of Finance trade data, fell 4.0% m/m in February for the second straight drop following a revised 4.8% fall in January, data released by the BOJ showed on Thursday.

The figures were calculated by MNI based on BOJ data and confirmed by bank officials. The BOJ will release details of the index on Tuesday.

The average index for the January-February period fell 4.0% from the previous quarter, the first drop in four quarters.
