MNI BRIEF: BOJ's Kuroda: Cost-Push Inflation Pressures Economy

TOKYO (MNI)

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Friday that cost-push price inflation will put downward pressure on Japan’s economy and easy policy should continue.

“The rise in crude oil price caused the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will push up Japan’s consumer prices,” Kuroda told reporters following the latest policy review, see: MNI BRIEF: BOJ Policy And Guidance Steady, Lowers Econ View.

“It is appropriate for the BOJ to maintain easy policy to achieve 2% price target in a stable manner,” Kuroda added.
