MNI BRIEF: BOJ Opinions: Must Watch Covid Impact On Financing

TOKYO (MNI)

One Bank of Japan board member said that the decision on the treatment of the special measures to facilitate corporate financing will be judged at the September meeting in the wake of the recent surge of Covid-19 cases, the summary of opinions at the July 2021 meeting released on Friday showed.

“Although the Special Operations to Facilitate Financing in response to COVID-19 have had their intended effects and seem to be finishing their role, the decision regarding the operations should not be made at this MPM in the face of the resurgence of COVID-19,” another member said. At least two board members emphasized the need to carefully examine or analyze wage developments.
