MNI BRIEF: BOJ Managers Report Highlights Spend, Invest Trends

Many Bank of Japan branch managers on Monday reported that private consumption is recovering and capital investment is increasing, but to production and labor and incomes show weakness, the BOJ’s regional economic report said.

HIGHLIGHTS

* Travel demand is recovering, Kobe said, and reservations are up Naha said.

* - Input costs for food and dining are up, but prices remain in check amid concern over a drop of sales.

* Supply side constraints led to a lower production outlook, a transport equipment firm in Yokohama said.

* - A shortage of semiconductors has lowered the pace of production for a machinery firm in Nagoya.

* - Weaker demand from automobile companies led an electric machinery firm in Aomori to cut production with September eyed as a return to normal.
