MNI BRIEF: BOJ To Allow Markets To Determine Long Rates-Ueda

Long-term interest rates will be determined basically by the financial markets, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda told business leaders in Tokyo on Wednesday.

“In addition, while the Bank is currently examining the situation in financial markets under the framework of JGB purchases revised in March, it is appropriate for the Bank to reduce the amount of its JGB purchases as it proceeds with its exit from large-scale monetary easing,” Ueda said in a speech.
