Brazil's IPCA inflation was 0.16% in March, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said on Wednesday, announcing a figure that was below the 0.25% consensus forecast.
In annual terms, prices rose by 3.93%, down from 4.50% in February, marking the sixth consecutive monthly deceleration in the 12-month accumulated series and the lowest level since June 2023.
"Of the nine groups surveyed, six experienced increases from February to March. However, categories with significant weight in the IPCA showed a slowdown in the index," IBGE said.(See MNI INTERVIEW: New Brazil Guidance Doesn't Mean Slower Easing)
