OTTAWA (MNI)

Canadian manufacturing sales rose 3.5% in March according to a flash government estimate Friday, keeping the economy on pace for strong growth again in the first quarter as the central bank looks at further tapering bond purchases.

Wholesale sales also climbed 0.9% on the month, Statistics Canada said. Industry sources have told MNI they are adapting to pandemic restrictions though a full economic rebound this year will be difficult. In February, factory sales fell 1.6% and wholesales by 0.7%.
