China will start negotiations for new free trade agreements with partners following the success of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement, according to a Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesperson on Thursday.

Beijing will participate in discussing new rules in the domains of digital economy, environmental protection and institutional openness, as it looks to expand its global network of high quality trade deals, MOFCOM said.

Trade with RCEP members has grown 17.7% in 2022 and will continue to be an important platform for intra-regional trade.
