GDP growth isn’t the only yardstick to measure China's progress and high-quality innovative growth is now the priority, Mu Hong a Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission told reporters at a press conference on Monday.

China will continue opening up to the world and seek synergies between its ambitions to grow domestic demand and increase China's role as a major trading partner, Mu said in response to the Central Committee’s Party Congress report. He added he hoped the report would alleviate any international concerns over China’s development, he said

Boosting domestic demand, developing unified national markets, raising productivity, and enhancing supply chain resilience are key priorities. China will develop its state companies and guide the non-public sector, while ensuring the market plays a decisive role in resource allocation, Mu said.

Regional development is important for common prosperity along with stronger rural-urban integration, added Mu.
