MNI BRIEF: Daly Unsure Whether Fed Should Hike in 2022 or 2023

(MNI)

San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly told reporters Tuesday she needs more time to figure out the potential timing of interest rate hikes, downplaying the need for a response next year to recent high inflation readings.

"It's too early to make the call," she said. "The data are cloudy right now, and if we react to cloudy data we could make a mistake." MNI has reported the Fed's December dots will likely show a pile-up in 2022.
