Bank of Spain sees loan exposure across impacted flooded area at EUR20 billion.

MNI (LONDON) - Banking sector exposure to flooding in Spain's Valencia flood-affected region is estimated at EUR 20 billion, with EUR 13 billion linked to household loans and EUR 7 billion to corporate loans, according to the Bank of Spain’s latest report published Tuesday.

Approximately 472,000 individuals hold household loans in the impacted region, of which just over 150,000 are mortgages, the BoS noted. For corporate exposure, 60% of the EUR 7 billion pertains to small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up 90% of the total 23,000 affected companies.
