MNI (LONDON) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has named her new commissioners Tuesday, with France getting one of the most-prized roles, that of Executive Vice President for Industrial Strategy and the Single Market for their late-named candidate Stephane Sejourne. 

Italy also succeeded in getting Raffaelle Fitto an EVP role for Cohesion, Reform and Investment despite a political squabble between the socialist, liberal and centre-right EPP and ECR political groups over his appointment, while veteran Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis takes the key EVP role for economy and productivity, according to a post by Von der Leyen on X
