MNI BRIEF: Fed Plans to Hold Jackson Hole Conference in Person

(MNI)

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City announced Thursday it is proceeding with plans to host a modified, in-person program at this year's Jackson Hole Symposium August 26-28.

The conference has often been the location of Fed policy announcements and last year the central bank's first completely virtual event held to tradition by unveiling its new operating framework that seeks to re-anchor inflation expectations and see inflation average 2%. Former officials have told MNI the conference could be the time when the central bank sheds additional light on its policies and some investors have bet the Fed will provide timing on tapering asset purchases.

The conference will adhere to all health and safety guidelines that are in place at the time of the program, the Kansas City Fed said in a statement, and closer to the event the bank anticipates providing notice of keynote speeches that will be available to the public virtually, in real-time.
