MNI BRIEF: Fed's Collins Optimistic For Softer Landing

Boston Federal Reserve President Susan Collins said her baseline is for inflation to get back to the central bank's goal without a major negative impact, calling herself a "realistic optimist."

"Realistic because there are lots of risks and uncertainties, and it’s really hard to predict everything,” she said on a recent Boston Globe podcast describing her baseline outlook. "Optimistic because of the strength and resilience that we can get inflation back down and do that without a major negative impact.” Collins added that "inflation is high" and the economy has been resilient.
