MNI BRIEF: Fed Will Make 'Discreet' Edits To Framework -Powell

MNI (WASHINGTON) - The FOMC expects to make "discreet" changes to its monetary policy operating framework by late summer, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday after committee chair French Hill began the session by calling the Fed's shift to average inflation targeting "ill timed" and "ill fitted for a post-pandemic world." 

"We're going to look at the all the decisions that we made, why we made them back in 2020. We're going to ask ourselves what's changed, we're going to be open to criticism," Powell said. "We'll make appropriate, discreet adjustments." (See: MNI Exclusive On Fed's New Policy Framework)
