MNI BRIEF: High Value Added Exports Outlook Strong - MOFCOM

China’s strong performance in exporting high value added products in Q1 can continue, as authorities pursue policies to stabilize exports, according to a China Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) spokesperson on Thursday. High-end manufacturers in China have a competitive advantage in exports of electric vehicles, photovoltaics, and lithium batteries, which will help boost exports in the period ahead, the spokesperson said.

ASEAN, along with Belt and Road nations, will provide export growth opportunities which can help offset less demand from traditional economies, the spokesperson said.

Going forwards, China’s export market faces challenges due to low external demand and the impact of unilateralism and protectionism, MOFCOM said.
