MNI BRIEF: Inflation Likely Over 2.75% In Coming Months-Kaplan

WASHINGTON (MNI)

A surge in prices is likely in coming months, with inflation reaching over 2.75%, due to base effects and supply chain bottlenecks, Dallas Fed President Rob Kaplan said Friday.

The Dallas Fed chief also said so far he has not changed his views on projecting a 2022 lift-off of interest rates in the so-called June 'Dot Plot'.

"You're going to see a surge in prices year-over-year coming up here, and when I say a surge, well in excess of 2.5%, maybe 2.75% plus, in the next several months," said Kaplan, who is a current FOMC non-voter, rostering back in 2023.
