MNI BRIEF: Japan April Service Producer Prices Up 1.7% On Year

(MNI) Tokyo

(Corrects headline figure to 1.7%)

Japan’s services producer price index rose 1.7% y/y in April, posting the highest level since February 2020, when it rose 2.1%, preliminary data released by the Bank of Japan on Thursday showed.

The April rise was due mainly to higher prices for transportation and postal activities and for advertising services. The SPPI was unchanged from the previous month, slowing from +0.9% in March.
