Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda, speaking to the lower house of parliament on Tuesday, said policymakers will start to discuss an exit strategy of easy policy only when Japan’s consumer price index approaches the 2% target.

Kuroda told lawmakers that possible options that the BOJ will take at that time are how the bank shrinks its balance sheet and how to raise policy interest rates, and their pace and combination, see: Rpt: MNI INSIGHT: BOJ Sees Near-Term Upside Risk To Inflation. He added that if the BOJ prematurely shows an exit strategy, it will mislead the markets.
