Another mixed round of UK labour data that showed unemployment continuing to rise, but no sign yet of a decline in weekly earnings, data released by the the Office for National Statistics showed Tuesday.
The unemployment rate rose to 4.4% from 4.3% in the previous rolling three-month period and the latest flash payroll data showed a modest decline of 3,000 jobs to 30.3 million, the ONS said, using HMRC data.
Wages remain elevated, sitting around 6%, with ex-bonus earnings at 6.0% and wages including bonuses at 5.9% -- both a touch above levels expected by the Bank of England. (see MNI INTERVIEW: UK Pay Deals Slow To Around 5% In H1-Brightmine)
