MNI BRIEF: NGEU Funding Resilient Despite Volatility - EU Hahn

(MNI) LONDON

Funding of the EU’s Recovery Fund has remained resilient despite increased market volatility in recent weeks, Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn said Friday.

“Despite more volatile market conditions, investors maintained strong interest in the program, with syndicated transactions oversubscribed by 5.9 and 16 times,” he said.

The commissioner’s comments followed publication of the second annual report on the NGEU program, showing EUR121 billion of long-term financing since its June 2021 launch, of which EUR50 billion in the first half of 2022. 115.5 billion of this had been disbursed to EU states under the NGEU program.
