MNI BRIEF: RBA Sets Reduced 2024 Meeting Schedule

(MNI) Sydney

The Reserve Bank of Australia has published the dates for its 2024 board meetings and related announcements and publications.

Governor Philip Lowe earlier in the month laid out changes to the RBA’s meeting schedule, which will reduce to eight from 11 each year. (See MNI BRIEF: Lowe Lays Out Board Meeting Reform)

In a statement, the RBA noted the meetings will run longer than is currently the case, typically starting on the Monday afternoon and continuing on the Tuesday morning. The outcome of the meeting will be announced at 2.30pm (AEST) on the second day and the Governor will hold a media conference at 3.30pm. The minutes of the monetary policy meeting will continue to be published two weeks after each meeting. The quarterly Statement on Monetary Policy will be released at the same time as the outcome of the Board meeting in February, May, August and November.
