MNI BRIEF: Rouble Sinks, Oil Above USD100 On Ukraine Conflict

The Russian rouble continued at record lows and Brent Crude kept tracking at over US$100 a barrel on Monday as markets continued to respond to the Ukrainian conflict and global sanctions.

By the early afternoon in Asia, the rouble was at 100.27 against the U.S. dollar after closing Friday at 83.89. The unit was just under 75.00 to the dollar on Feb. 9 before the conflict erupted. Brent Crude hit a high of USD105.07 in early Asian trade before slipping back to USD101.79. Brent closed Friday at USD97.93.
