MNI BRIEF: SNB, BdF And BIS In Joint CBDC Payment Experiment

FRANKFURT (MNI)

The Swiss National Bank, the Banque de France and the Bank for International Settlements' Innovation Hub are to collaborate on an experiment in cross-border wholesale central bank digital currencies (CBDC), it was announced Thursday.

'Project Jura' will use distributed ledger technology (DLT) to settle transactions between banks in France and Switzerland, exchanging a euro wholesale CBDC against a Swiss franc wholesale CBDC through a payment versus payment (PvP) settlement mechanism.
