MNI BRIEF: SNB Shows Modest Annual Profit Increase

The Swiss National Bank has reported a profit of CHF 26.3 billion for 2021 (up from CHF 20.9 billion in 2020 but down from 2019's CHF 48.9 billion), comprising CHF 25.7 billion profit on foreign currency positions and CHF 1.1 billion profit on Swiss franc positions, minus loss of CHF 0.1 billion on gold holdings.

The SNB will pay out the maximum dividend of CHF 15 per share and distribute CHF to the Swiss cantons, leaving the reserve at CHF 102.5 billion.
