Bank of Japan board member Junko Nakagawa said on Thursday that Japan has made steady progress toward the achievement of the bank’s 2% price target as corporate wage-setting behaviour changes.
Nakagawa told business leaders in Otsu City, should the Bank judge the 2% price target achievable, it will contemplate adjusting its easy policy settings, "while keeping its impact on financial markets and unconventional monetary policy in mind."
However, she did not elaborate on when and how the BOJ would adjust its easy policy settings.
The Bank is expected to phase out easy policy in either March or April. (See MNI POLICY: Weaker Econ Data Risk May Push March BOJ Action)
