MNI BRIEF: US Hiring Bounces Back 227,000 In Nov, U-Rate 4.2%
Last payrolls report before December FOMC meeting.
MNI (WASHINGTON) - The U.S. economy created 227,000 jobs in November - above market expectations for 220,000 - while September was revised up 32,000 to 255,000 and October was revised up 24,000 to 36,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report Friday, bringing the three-month moving average to 173k.
The unemployment rate ticked up a tenth to 4.2%, the BLS said, and average hourly earnings came in at 0.366% in November and are up 4.032% over the past year.
The as-expected report keeps the Fed tilted toward another interest rate cut on December 18th, although CPI data is set for another release next week. (See: MNI INTERVIEW: Three Fed Cuts Before Mid-2025 Pause - Giannoni)
