MNI BRIEF: Waller Says Months of 4% Inflation Would Concern

WASHINGTON (MNI)

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said Thursday months of 4% inflation would be a concern and potentially cause him to re-evaluate the central bank's easy policies.

"If I were to see 4% inflation month in, month out, month in, month out, then I'm very concerned," Waller said in a question-and-answer panel at the Global Interdependence Center. "I expect inflation to be up above target for the next two years, about 2.5%-2.25%," he said.

In his prepared remarks, Waller said six transitory factors will cause inflation to overshoot the Fed's 2% goal but won't lead to sustained higher inflation.
