MNI BULLET: U.S. Weekly Jobless Claims Rise 742,000

(MNI) WASHINGTON

U.S. weekly jobless claims rose by 31,000 to 742,000 in the week ended Nov. 14, the Labor Department said. The level of claims remains around three times pre-recession levels, and are considered an increasingly unreliable measure of labor market health as extended benefits expire for millions. Continued claims fell sharply, by 429,000, to 6,732,000 million in the week ended Nov. 7. Labor said there were 8,681,647 individuals claiming Pandemic Unemployment Assistance benefits and 4,376,847 claiming Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits as of the end of October.
