The Chicago Business BarometerTM Survey also asked firms in January: "How do you see your business activity growing in the first half of 2024, by percent?”

  • The most popular response was ‘0-5%’ growth, expected by 43.3% while 30% responded with ‘No growth’. Outside of these responses, there was an even split with 13.3% expecting faster growth of ‘10%+’ while 13.3% of respondents expect a ‘decline’ in business activity.
