MNI CHINA MARKETS: Yuan Stronger; Rates Lower; SH Shares Lower

     BEIJING (MNI) - The Chinese yuan climbed to 6.3145 against the U.S. dollar
on Thursday from yesterday's 6.3204 closing, despite today's weaker fixing.  
     Interbank market rates decreased after PBOC's net drain of CNY150 billion
via open market operation.
  - 7-day repo average fell to 2.9113% from 2.9909% yesterday;
  - Overnight repo average was at 2.7479%, down from 2.8016% yesterday. 
     Yield on 10-year China Government Bond last traded 3.6150%, down from
3.6200% at close yesterday: Wind Information.
The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.02% to 3086.12 at 11:14 am, while Hong
Kong's Hang Seng Index was last down 0.75% to 30,100.67.
