MNI China Press Digest, May 18: Expansionary Policies, 5G

BEIJING (MNI) - The following lists highlights from Chinese press reports
on Monday:
China is expected to unveil another raft of expansionary fiscal and
monetary policies to stimulate domestic demand, Economic Information Daily
reported. Citing Wang Qing, the chief macroeconomy analyst with Golden Orient
Ratings, the Daily said the supply side recovers faster than the demand side in
China. Wen Bin, the chief analyst with Mingsheng Bank, told the newspaper that
the central bank should make more cuts to the reserve ratio at an appropriate
time to lower financing costs in the economy.
China has activated more than 200,000 5G stations, Chen Zhaoxiong, a vice
minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said on Sunday. The
Beijing Youth Daily reported that the two largest state-owned carriers - China
Mobile and China Unicom - aim to build 550,000 5G stations in 2020. The MIIT
will encourage carriers to provide more subsidies with the aim of attracting
customers to upgrade and purchase new 5G mobile phones, the newspaper said.
