MNI: China Yuan CFETS Index Drops for A Third Consecutive Week
BEIJING (MNI) - A currency index of China's yuan has dropped for the third
consecutive week since June 22, on a trade-weighted basis against the currencies
of its major trading partners, according to data released Monday by the People's
Bank of China.
The CFETS Weekly RMB Index, which measures the yuan relative to a basket of
24 currencies, fell by 0.62% last Friday from the previous week to 95.07, the
lowest since the week of Jan 12 this year.
That said, the RMB gauge has recorded a 0.23% gain year-to-date as of last
Friday, up from 94.85 on Dec 29, according to MNI's calculations.
