MNI DATA BRIEF: UK Productivity Rises in Q2

UK output per hour rose by an annual rate of 3.1% in Q2, but declined by 0.5% over Q1, according to flash productivity data released by the Office for National Statistics on Tuesday. However, output per worker rose by 4.5% over Q1 and by 23.4% over the same period of 2020. Measures against the 2019 average, output per hour rise by 0.6% in Q2, while output per worker declined by 2.7%.

Former Bank of England MPC member Martin Weale pointed to issues measuring UK productivity levels in a recent MNI interview.
