MNI DATA IMPACT: China Nov PMI Soars To 52.1, A 3-Year High

China's November manufacturing Purchasing Manager Index jumped to 52.1 from 51.4 the previous month, registering the highest level since October 2017.

The non-manufacturing gauge rose by 0.2 point to 56.4, the highest this year, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics released on Monday.

MNI highlights the following key points:

  • Both the production and new-order sub-indexes quickened 0.8 and 1.1 points to 54.7 and 53.9 respectively, recording the highest this year and showing continued improvement in both supply and demand.
  • New-export orders and imports rose above 50.0 for the third time this year to 51.5 and 50.9, up 0.5 and 0.1 from the previous month to the highest this year.
  • Among the non-manufacturing PMI sub-indicators, the service business activities index was 55.7, quickening for the fourth month and up from October's 55.5.
  • Business activity in railway and air transportation as well as the financial sector were all more than 60.0, and within the high operating range with significant increases in business volume.
