MNI Global Morning Briefing

MNI (London)
LONDON (MNI) - The three releases worth noting to end the week are
Germany's October industrial production data at 0700GMT, the second estimate of
Q3 GDP for the Euro Area at 1000GMT and, the big one, the U.S. November nonfarm
payrolls at 1330GMT.
Industrial production growth in Germany rose by 0.2% m/m in September.
The
MNI median points to a 0.4% rise in October.
Euro Area GDP for Q3 was 0.2% q/q in the first estimate. This is
expected
to remain unchanged and signal a pretty disappointing Q3 for the area as a
whole.
Nonfarm payrolls are forecast to rise by 190,000 in November after a
much
stronger-than-expected 250,000 rise in October, a rebound from the previous
month's weak reading. The unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 3.7%
for a third straight month. Hourly earnings are forecast to rise to 0.3%, with
the year/year rate likely to slip back from the 3.1% rate posted in October due
to base effects. The average workweek is expected to stay at 34.5 hours in
November.
Speaking at 1600GMT is BBK board member Sabine Mauderer speaking in
Berlin.
At 1715GMT is the Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard, set to speak
about current financial stability issues in Washington D.C.
